Thanksgiving was decent enough except for the long solo car trips, which kinda sucked but objectively really weren't that bad. I kind of hate being on the Taconic for so long when I head home from Max's, but it is shorter than heading home from Jersey; in fact, I got home before sunset despite some idiots' best efforts to stop me.
The holiday itself was nice. Lyle and Evie had one meltdown while we were there, but nothing unusual for girls their ages I assume. Pluto has settled down, which is...awesome. Dinner was decent, and with the girls growing up, it was noticeably less chaotic than in past years. It kind of felt...routine, I guess.
Dethbox expressed some interest in maybe meeting up, and to my surprise my parents even said he could stay over if he wanted to. And then he just stopped replying at one point, and if there was a more clear indicator that one wasn't ultimately that interested, I don't know what that would have been.
The weather was nice enough that we went for walks a few times, including once by myself.

It was Nocturne's birthday while I was there. I wished him a happy birthday despite reservations about doing so. I still have heard nothing from him since September. I'm now actively hurt by his silence.

I finished the book I was editing shortly before Thanksgiving, but I still haven't been paid for the work (which I haven't sent back), so that's nice...

On Black Friday, I believe, Vice messaged me to say that they were going to be discontinuing work on my commission and refunding me. They added, somewhat unneccessarily and somewhat hurtfully, that they felt the project wasn't what they'd been expecting to be asked to do (I imagine they expected something more monstrous), and that they "weren't excited" about the piece at this point. Knowing that they're ND I'm willing to give a little bit of benefit of the doubt and say they were just being clear and direct, but it still felt very unnecessary and a bit hurtful. It also kind of bothered me that there was no offer to repurpose the commission to something they might have enjoyed doing more; it was just a flat thumbs-down.

To add insult to injury, I ended up talking with Ray about this a bit...who I haven't talked with much lately because they kept dropping conversations on me...and they said they'd write up their own analysis of what happened to try to help me...well, that was over ten days ago and I'm still waiting...

I've somehow met a handful of people online who may have some potential, but none of them are quite reaching the level of enthusiasm I might hope for.

Saw "Zootopia 2" by myself on Sunday. I didn't intend to see it by myself, but some VT Furs apparently decided to see it privately...including Kita and I suspect Travis, though I can't prove that...and while Phaaze expressed interest in seeing it with me, he then backed out saying he wasn't feeling well.
I think I may have enjoyed it more than the first film. Still the nice elements of noir, and still kid-friendly but with some pretty heavy issues going on in the background as well. I was a little disappointed that the potential moral concerns with Judy and Nick being cops were sidelined, but it's okay. It was snowy that night, but I kept my speed to 30-something at most and it was mostly fine. Beat not going for sure.

After some hiccups, I've installed Linux Mint on my PC alongside Windows and am starting to explore that. I've got emails, my socials, music, Discord and TG up and running, which is really the most critical stuff I think.
