doniagoHopefully by this time next week I'll be enjoying Florida weather and the company of my parents for a bit over a week. I'm pretty damn excited to get out of Burlington and away from work and the housing shit I've been dealing with for the last few weeks now.
Got a haircut yesterday, I've got cash for the trip, and I know where my passport is. Gotta do laundry on Saturday and then pack. I really want to have as much done as possible before Monday, because my flight Tuesday is stupid-early.
Furcationland is pissing me off. Besides the dangling plot thread of Nocturne and knowing I'll see Pepper again, the Programming folks told me they scheduled my panel for 11:30pm - 1:30am on Saturday night. For some types of panels (mostly AD ones) I can see how that might have some merit, but for a writing panel? It feels like a bit of a WTF. When I asked them about the possibility of an earlier slot, their initial response was that they might be able to fit me in earlier in the day, but that after the first hour I'd be in conflict with the Fursuit Parade, which also means I certainly wouldn't be able to participate in the parade. The late-night timeslot would obviously preclude me doing anything else later Saturday night too, though that almost feels like a minor consideration. So I'm considering withdrawing my panel altogether, and it's annoying because there's not exactly an abundance of writing panels at northeast cons usually, and I like helping writers and the writing community, but JFC...
